Steep is the upcoming, extreme open-world winter sports game that no one knew they needed. It was first revealed at Ubisoft’s E3 2016 conference, along with several minutes of intense gameplay. Today at Gamescom 2016, Ubisoft has finally announced a release date. Get ready to dominate the Alps and the mountains of Alaska this winter, because Steep will be available in December for PC, PlayStation 4, and
Ubisoft Annecy in France has been leading Steep’s development. Interconnectivity is the name of this game, as players can choose to compete against their friends, sharing awesome stunts and gameplay. You will meet a ton of other riders as you play and even have the option to follow them and create your own challenges together. Or, if you are more of a solo artist, you can certainly choose to ride your way down the mountains alone.
It has been a while since we have had a good winter sports game, and we are long overdue. The popular snowboarding franchise, SSX is a favorite among gamers, and the 2012 reboot managed to garner high reviews. Despite its immense popularity, though, SSX does not encompass wingsuit flying, skiing, snowboarding, and paragliding. Steep is looking to change the game in that respect. The anticipated title is looking to break ground and open new doors in this genre upon its release.
Ubisoft also announced the Gold Edition of Steep, which will retail at $79.99. Players who pre-order the Standard or Gold Editions of the game will be able to extend their night-riding experiences through The Moonlight pack, which contains night-themed content. Some of the features we can expect includes:
• Three extra night challenges
• Three new night outfits
• Glowing equipment for each activity (ski, snowboard, wingsuit and paraglide)
• Night flare
• Wingsuit Rocket flare
