Activision pretty much confirmed the recent leak that most of the maps from the original MW2 from 2009 will be coming to Modern Warfare III. Word had been going around for a while that Modern Warfare III would be taking players on a trip down memory lane with some of its features. Activision even confirmed that all the saves from the recent MW2 will carry over to the upcoming shooter.
Plus, Modern Warfare 3 has gotten a lot of leaks recently, and it seems Activision wants to keep that ball rolling. When the game’s key art, weapons, and reveal date leaked, instead of issuing takedowns, Activision instead decided to turn it into a joke. And this map confirmation from today is another example of how differently the company is handling its upcoming reveal compared to previous games.
Leak Suggesting MW2 Multiplayer Maps Are Coming to Modern Warfare III
The confirmation of Modern Warfare III featuring most of the multiplayer maps of MW2 came about through Twitter, or the recently redubbed X, when an eagle-eyed fan found that Activision’s Call of Duty portal is more than meets the eye.
A phone number found within the Modern Warfare III teaser trailer isn’t just a prop but can actually be contacted through Twitter. CharlieINTEL, a reliable source for Call of Duty news, confirmed that when the bot is asked about the term “zombies”, it confirms that the mode will be in Modern Warfare III. More intriguingly though, when prompted with multiplayer map names from the original MW2, the bot replies to those names with an accompanying pin, suggesting that they’re coming to Modern Warfare III.

Activision has set up this phone number to give out information about the game. So people should go give it a shot and see what information they can squeeze out of the bot. The rumors before this suggested that Modern Warfare III would launch with remade maps from MW2. But we still can’t be sure if they will be one-to-one copies of the original or will be remade akin to CS2 maps from CS:GO. But of course, all of the information given by the bot should be taken with a grain of salt until we get official confirmation from Activision.
