The third season of Outer Banks on Netflix dropped just earlier last week and had already been picked up for season four; it honestly isn’t a surprise after how the season finale had an ending with the teaser of what is to come next. At the end of Outer Banks season three, the Pogues got El Dorado, and after returning back to the OBX 18 months later, they are at a ceremony recognizing them for their findings of the treasure. While standing at a table, we see a man walk up to the Pouges, and that is when we get our teaser for what season four will be about.
Outer Banks Season 4 Will Be About Blackbeard
The man that walked up to talk to the Pogues then talks about Blackbeard and his ship, hinting at the possible treasure. The man hands John B. a manuscript from the diary of Edward Teach, who was known as Blackbeard. In case you don’t know who Blackbeard is, he is a real-life pirate that sailed the West Indies and the Caribbean during the late 1600s. A Museum called Royal Museum Greenwich has a lot of information on Blackbeard such as he was known to leave behind $12.5 million worth of treasure after his ship was attacked by the British Royal Navy in 1718. Blackbeard was then called by the British Royal Navy when they beheaded him in November of that same year.
So it says, the treasure is still lost and was likely left behind in Ocracoke Island in North Carolina or Charleston, South Carolina. These places where the treasure could possibly be are perfect for the story of Outer Banks and actually seeing a Blackbeard story unfold in this show will be an amazing thing to see. Not only for folks who lived close to the area and were raised hearing stories of Blackbeard but also for the fans of the show who are excited to see the show go in a bigger direction which we saw a little bit of in season 3.
