Red Barrel Studios announced an official release date for Outlast 2, the sequel to it’s 2013 first-person horror game Outlast. The studio tweeted an eerie image accompanying text by welcoming gamers to Temple Gate on April 25th.
Set in the remote desert of Temple Gate, Arizona, Outlast 2 will put players in the shoes of Blake Langermann, a cameraman and investigative journalist searching for his wife after their plane crashed. The demo released last October displayed that the sequel will feature the same infrared night vision camera system as before and that fighting back is still not an option
Unlike its predecessor, Outlast 2 will have a supernatural element to it – if you don’t count the nanobot ghost thing from the first game – as the demo featured an array of weird, unexplainable occurrences, like getting sucked down a well by a giant tongue. But don’t worry, there are plenty of creepy (possibly naked) humans to run away from this time around as well.
In an answer to a tweet by a fan about the games price, Red Barrel also confirmed two versions of the game will be available upon release. Outlast 2 will be available for $29.99 (USD), while Outlast Trinity – a physical collection of Outlast, Outlast: Whistleblower and Outlast 2 – will be priced at $39.99.
Though the tweet initially implies that Outlast 2 will only be available digitally at first, the studio resolved the confusion by stating the game will release hard copy the same day.
Horror fans only have to wait another month for Outlast 2, as it will be available on PC, XBOX One and Playstation 4 on April 25th. Be sure to stay tuned to the site for our official review…but not from me because I am a coward.
