Internet users are expressing outrage after Paris Hilton began selling LGBTQ+ themed merchandise featuring the phrase “Stop Being Straight.” As Pride Month takes place each June, many companies, organizations, and public figures participate in celebrations and events recognizing the LGBTQ+ community. These efforts can include changing branding to incorporate Pride flag colors, sponsoring events, sharing messages of support, or selling merchandise connected to Pride Month and LGBTQ+ visibility.

On her official website, Paris Hilton promoted a “Pride Collection” featuring a variety of LGBTQ+-themed items. The products that drew the most attention online were those featuring the phrases “Stop Being Straight” and “Start Being Gay.” Critics argued that the slogans were inappropriate or offensive, leading some viewers to interpret them as suggesting that being straight was somehow undesirable. Others viewed the phrases as tongue-in-cheek or intended as humorous Pride-themed messaging rather than a literal statement.

The Pride Collection promoted by Hilton also included a variety of other Pride-themed items. One of the products that drew attention was a T-shirt featuring the phrase “Too Hot to Be Straight.” The rest of the collection included merchandise with rainbow-themed designs and other LGBTQ±related slogans intended to celebrate Pride Month and support the LGBTQ+ community.

Viewers Outraged Following Paris Hilton’s Pride Merch

The merch sparked reactions online. Many viewers reacted negatively to the Pride merchandise promoted by Paris Hilton, arguing that some of the slogans were offensive to straight people. “This is getting ridiculous; she’s pushing T-shirts for profit like she really needs the money. Very disgusting individual,” one person wrote. Another commenter questioned the motivation behind the collection, saying, “She probably doesn’t care about the messaging. She’s in it for the money. It’s a marketing strategy. It’s the greed.”

More people criticized Hilton, as one person wrote, “Another brilliant idea from Paris Hilton. Let’s all become gay and end the human population! Is she in cahoots with Bill Gates?” Another person said, “This is absolutely ridiculous. Normal people are entirely done with these bizarre, out-of-touch double standards. Sit this one out, Paris.”

The merchandise promoted by Paris Hilton sparked significant debate online, with many people disagreeing with some of the slogans featured in the Pride Collection. The controversy also led to broader discussions about celebrity-branded merchandise, with some questioning whether public figures genuinely support the causes associated with their products or whether such campaigns are primarily driven by commercial interests.
