A man who was arrested recently for stabbing a man to death in North Carolina has been revealed to have been arrested 31 times before.
David Eugene Bryan Jr. was arrested in connection with a deadly stabbing near Independence Mall, a shopping area, in Wilmington, North Carolina, after he and his girlfriend had allegedly roamed the area for items to steal.
The victim succumbed to his injuries after being discovered stumbling out of a nearby wooded area, bleeding heavily from his throat. During the investigation, it was revealed that Bryan Jr. had already been arrested 31 times before, amassing 70+ charges. It is unclear why he has been released each time or how.
The information was posted on X by user Matt Van Swol, an alleged former nuclear scientist for the US Department of Energy who is also well-known with the North Carolina MAGA crowd, via a news report featuring images of Bryan Jr.’s mugshot.
However, the specific number of 31 cannot be substantiated outside of Van Swol’s post. The accompanying video also does not state that number, and only attests to the fact that an arrest has not been made. However, Bryan Jr.’s face from different mugshots can be seen posted various times throughout the video.
Reactions to North Carolina Man Killer Having Been Arrested 31 Times
X users took to the replies to share their opinions, with many of them arguing that this is the fault of the system that arrested him originally. One person wrote, “31 prior arrests and still back on the street. not a glitch in the system, it is the system.” Another user wrote, “We have to start holding people accountable We can’t have a society that doesn’t punish criminals.”
Other commenters blame past judges, with one writing, “When the JUDGES who keep letting these career criminals off too easy and they’re allowed back on to our streets to repeat again and again!! AMERICA IS NOT BEING SMART NOR HUMANE IN THE WAY SICK CRIMINALS AMONG US ARE HANDLED VIA OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM!!“
A first appearance hearing was scheduled for April 23, where he was charged with second-degree murder in Wilmington. In response to this, the WPD Criminal Investigation Division and Wilmington Police Department said, “We recognize this occurred during peak travel hours and appreciate the public’s patience as officers worked to safely process the scene.”
It is unclear if Bryan Jr is expected to appear at any other hearings concerning this case.
