There are moments when you need to be wise and trust your gut instead of doing something stupid. An example of a stupid behavior is to go to an anti-ICE protest and pretend to be pro-ICE. This is what a female streamer in Austin did. She quickly found out how unwise her decision was. In several videos shared from her stream, the streamer keeps saying “I love fascism” and “Deport them all.” Yes, she is saying these things while standing in an anti-ICE protest. What did she expect?
The woman ended up getting punched by an outraged anti-ICE male protester. He could have reacted differently, but he chose to get physical. Of course, the impact was enough to wipe off the streamer’s smile. Instead of taking the L and moving forward, she tried to explain what she was doing. Her explanation only made matters worse as she wrote:
“For the people who want to point out the fact that I’m crying, a full grown man sneak attacks me and punches me in the side of the face and runs off, I’m going to cry. It hurt. People will respond to physical pain regardless. You try getting punched in the ear and see how you feel. Second, I am not complaining about getting hit, I expected something to happen. That was the point. My whole purpose was to document the absurdity on both sides. It’s just unfortunate that I couldn’t go back out and troll the right as I intended to do due to being assaulted by a man.”
She didn’t stop at that as she also said, “I was yelling out stupid shit to get reactions.” Well, she definitely got a reaction. Probably not the one she hoped for.
People Reacting to the Attack in Austin
Assault is never the right way to react to something you dislike, but that didn’t stop everyone from enjoying the Austin streamer getting punched. One person wrote, “She lost that smile real quick.” The erased smile delighted another Redditor who said, “The juxtaposition of her facial expressions is the funniest thing to see, definitely put a smirk on my face as I sipped coffee this morning.” Someone else claimed that she was doing this for attention as they said, “But she still managed to keep the camera on her face. Beat up, stomped out. This is exactly what she wants, attention.”
Since it was predictable that the Austin streamer would meet backlash, one person wrote, “antagonistic idiots surprised they antagonised people; nobody could’ve predicted such an outcome…” User delixecfl16 pointed out how ironic it was that the streamer was doing this while she was a person of color. “Of all the trump supporters I’ll never understand how POC reason him to be good for them,” they commented. There was one person who also shared that this was to be expected. “I’m not saying she should have gotten hit. But she can’t be surprised. If I kick a dog I can’t be mad if it bites me.” Honestly, you shouldn’t do stupid things that could get you in trouble.
