A Texas man engaged in a heated argument with a maintenance worker he deemed racist. According to him, he was told he was trespassing despite having purchased a storage unit at the location. The unit in question belonged to the worker himself.
The tense interaction was uploaded by TikTok user thestorageguru, which shows him surveying through the items stashed inside the storage unit he reportedly just bought. However, he is approached by a “maintenance man” who tells them they are trespassing. According to the TikToker, this man used to own the unit before selling it to him.
The smirking man told the new owner and another man accompanying him that they were “breaking the law.” He told one of the men, “You are currently trespassing on property, sir.”
The man recording the video, however, wasn’t having any of it. He told the maintenance worker to “call the police if you want to call them.” The video shows both men raising their voices, with the maintenance worker asking them to leave. Meanwhile, the TikToker tells him to “call the police” multiple times in an increasingly angry tone.
“Please, calm down, sir,” the maintenance worker says. The man, however, claps back, “Nah, you calm down. Call the police, bro.” The worker then accused the man of being “very violent,” and as the man continued to berate him for what he deemed was a baseless accusation, he finally decided to walk away.
Storage Facility Hours, Suspicious
The drama stemmed from thestorageguru being at the Texas facility past 5:30 p.m., which reportedly is the office’s closing hour. This is explained by a woman in a follow-up video, which also shows the maintenance worker recording the incident.
However, many were quick to point out that, while the office might close at a certain hour, storage unit owners can access their belongings as long as they use their own locks. Shockingly, the man was told he wasn’t allowed to put on a lock of his own.
All these factors together raised many red flags, according to the vast majority of commenters.
“Hear me out she knows him!!!” one user said. A second one commented in a third video, “They gonna try and get that stuff when yall leave.” A third one added, “Not allowing him to put his own lock on it is crazy.”
Others were quick to point out that no one else was bothered by the Texas maintenance worker, as people were seen moving in the back. To thestorageguru, a Black man, there was also a racial aspect to this verbal altercation, besides the oddity of the interaction between him, the maintenance worker, and the woman.
