Pharah’s mother, Ana, will join the 21 characters already announced for Overwatch.
Officially announced today, the new character will join the support tier. she wields a Biotic rifle, shooting allies to heal them and enemies to deal damage. She’ll be the first support hero to have real long range potential.
She also has a Biotic grenade that can increase healing done to teammates while increasing damage done to enemies, very similar to Zenyatta’s discord orb. Her ultimate is called the Nano Boost and gives allies a speed boost, damage boost, and damage resistance. Her final ability is the sleep dart, which will put an enemy to sleep, though they will wake up as soon as they take damage.
All in all, she seems like a very versatile character, letting her hang back and heal her team while also taking down enemy heroes. An Ana origins trailer was also released, showing her relationship with the jetpack-wearing, rocket spewing Pharah and her checkered past that caused her to fall off the grid.
Ana is a former member of the original Overwatch team before being fatally wounded, losing an eye and going into hiding. The end of the origins trailer also teases several older members of the team, which could hint at even more new characters.
No release date for Ana was given, but we do know that she will be added to the game free of charge.
