Lots of Monster Hunter World‘s Hunters got burned out by the drop rates of rare Decos like Guard Up and Attack Boost 4. A sane Hunter can only run the “Day of Ruin” Quest for so long before they go as crazy as an enraged Kecha-Wacha on a rampage. Nevertheless, a Reddit Monster Hunter World player Xuro_ shared their “Palico Judgment method” to farm Deco fast in less than one minute.
Xuro_ dubbed their method as Palico Judgement because it’s as deadly as Alatreon’s Escaton Judgement ultimate attack. First, they put the Teostra to Sleep with a Bowgun and put Barrel Bombs and Snowman on top of its head. Then, their Palico throws out a Meowcano attack that almost deletes the Quest’s MR Tempered Teostra from existence in just 30 seconds. Lastly, the job is finished with Mega Barrel Bomb explosions. That’s the fastest way to get four or more Level 4 Deco if I’ve ever seen one.
How Does the Palico Judgment Method Works? Explained
If you’re wondering what kind of magic this ingenious Hunter managed to pull off, we do have an explanation for it. This works similarly to the Gunlance Wyrmstake Cannon “Snowman exploit” that people discovered a few years ago.
Simply put, Wyrmstake Cannon’s and Palico’s final Meowcano explosion tick damage actually can interact with most objects outside of monsters that have a hitbox. That includes Barrel Bombs, Snowmen, Thorn Pods on the ground, and yes, even other Hunters.
However, while the Stake and the Meowcano explosions cannot “destroy” the non-monster objects, those objects still receive and save the damage. When the Wyrmstake Cannon and Meowcano attacks end, they transport all that damage to the nearest object that “can be destroyed” by the damage. Which, as you can guess, the helpless monster that speedrunners Paralyzed or put to Sleep.
That’s not the end of it for the Palico Judgment. For some reason, because of how Monster Hunter World‘s MT Framework engine works, framerate can affect the tick damage too. Both attacks’ damage doubles at steady 60 FPS and practically quadruples when you can run the game at 144 FPS or more. To stabilize their framerate even further, Xuro_ is using the special effects removal mod such as EFX NUKE.
Yes, that means with a proper setup as seen in IDeVaste’s video below, your Palico alone can annihilate Fatalis and Alatreon as well! Unfortunately, the writer cannot replicate the Palico Judgment method at the moment for lacking the necessary hardware for stable 60+ FPS gameplay.
But pulling off this glitch is not as easy as hunting a Great Jagras. Especially since unlike using the Gunlance exploit, this method relies heavily on the positioning of your Palico.
In another Reddit thread, ElevatorEastern5232 expresses their frustration on performing this exploit. Their Palico keeps failing to put a Meowcano near the Snowman for a Furious Rajang they’re hunting. Another Redditor, dragonabala, chimed in saying that Palico’s movement “can be pretty erratic” most of the time. Not to mention that you’re “at the mercy of the monster’s AI” and won’t be able to replicate the setup perfectly every single time.
“Man, this glitch is so damn hard to set up it’s friggin’ useless. Don’t go thinking this is your trump card. You’d have to cancel and retry like 40 times to get it to work.”
On paper, yes, this Palico Judgment method is now the fastest way to farm Deco in Monster Hunter World. But is it as easy as it looks and fun to actually pull off? Like they said, always do things in moderation. Don’t waste time farming things; just take things slow, enjoy the game, and don’t get burned out. After all, the “desire sensor” is still a thing in this series.
