Palworld Is Still Good, Despite the Bestiality, Says Asmongold

Now I need to know why you gotta catch ’em all.

This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Palworld is no stranger to controversy. In this day and age, it can be hard to keep track of its list of potential offenses. Some of them could even have legal implications. Now, popular video game streamer Asmongold has added more to the discussion by saying that Palworld is a good game despite criticisms of bestiality or zoophilia in a rather controversial tweet.

Does Palworld Promote Bestiality?

As per Asmongold’s actual tweet, here’s what he had to say about Palworld back in January:

The success of Palworld proves that the only thing customers *actually* care about is a good game.

AI? Slavery? Beastiality? Copyright infringement?

It's a video game.

These are pretend problems that people don't actually care about

Make good game=people buy game

Simple

His tweet is mostly a jab at the criticisms directed at Palworld. Among those is what Asmongold mentioned from the supposed copyright infringement against Nintendo’s Pokémon to its use of A.I. art. However, the bestiality bit caught the attention of a lot of his followers. Some had to do a double-take for clarification.

Does Palworld really promote bestiality according to critics as Asmongold implied? Well, not intentionally (or not at all depending on how you process descriptions), and nor does it show bestiality. Thankfully.

Bestiality is the act of [expletive] with non-human animals. It’s an explicit cross-species coitus, simply put. While Palworld has a breeding mechanic and while it also allows you to catch humans as though they were Pals, it only lets you breed Pals with other Pals.

There is no in-game mechanic in Palworld that lets human players or characters perform coitus with the Pals, which for all intents and purposes are considered animals.

Lore-wise, There is Bestiality in Palworld

Still, there’s one Pal in Palworld that comes to mind as the source of the controversial take. That would be Lovander, the pink, love-themed Pal, something you might want to catch this upcoming Valentine’s Day. For thematics.

Anyway, according to the Paldeck (in-game encyclopedia about Pals), here’s Lovander’s description:

Seeking a night of love, it is always chasing someone around. At first, it only showed interest in other Pals, but in recent years even humans have become the target of its debauchery.

So technically, we have a Pal that may or may not have committed something akin to bestiality as it’s pretty clear what debauchery is regardless of how successful Lovander was in their attempts. Now, since Palworld is still an unfinished game, that Pal description could be a placeholder or even a joke. Or it could be the final thing.

Regardless, that certainly gives more context as to why Lovander looks somewhat like a dolphin. You could say that that design choice has its… porpoise.
