When you get far enough into Palworld, it starts to channel Red Dead Redemption. Gold, gunpowder, and oil become the keys to wealth and progress. Getting the last of these is arguably the trickiest. Oil only appears in specific locations in the Palpagos Islands, and extracting it requires some impressive technology. If you do manage to find and extract oil, however, you’ll have more riches and power than ever before. All that black gold wants to come out of the earth. We’re just here to help it (and maybe profit a bit). Here’s how to find and extract oil in Palworld.

The first thing you need to do to begin your oil baron journey is to travel to Sakurajima. It turns out that cherry blossoms and rare Pals aren’t the only thing this island’s known for. The good news is you won’t have to fight Saya just to get your hands on oil. Here’s what you need to do instead:

  1. Travel to Sakurajima (north of Ice Wind Island and west of the Pristine Snow Field)
  2. Head to the Northern Rock Field (the top portion of the island)
  3. Use a flying Pal to scout the area from the skies until you locate an oil well

You can farm oil from any of the naturally occurring oil springs in Palworld. You’ll find them on Sakurajima’s rocky coastline. These dark gray circles are easy to spot from above against the tan dirt and sand around them, so you shouldn’t have trouble tracking them down. Although you can find them on foot, getting a bird’s-eye view atop Quivern or another flying Pal makes the process much easier.

Locating an oil spring is only the first step. Once you’ve tracked down this resource deposit, you need to start pulling it from the earth. To farm oil in Palworld, you’ll need a Crude Oil Extractor. This Level 50 technology costs 2 Technology Points to unlock. After unlocking it, you’ll need Pal Metal Ingot x250 and Circuit Board x50 to craft it at the oil site. Hope you’ve got plenty of Ore and Paldium Fragments.

The Crude Oil Extractor also requires a power supply to run it, so you’ll want an electric Pal on hand to get the motor chugging away. Specifically, you’ll want a Large Power Generator, which requires 200 Pal Metal Ingot and 200 Electric Organs to build. Once it’s online, the Crude Oil Extractor will start pumping oil out of the earth. Daniel Plainview would be proud.
