Way back in 2003, Hollywood A-Listers Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie boarded a reality TV series called The Simple Life. The series, which would run until 2007, followed the glamorous socialites as they tackled low-wage, simple jobs as dairy farmers, burger flippers, or gas station workers. Now, after over two decades, Hilton and Richie are finally reuniting for something new. They shared the news earlier today by way of a simple Instagram post which has left fans wondering: is The Simple Life making a comeback? Or are we going to see something new?
Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie Announce a “New Era” Of…Something
The Simple Life, produced by 20th Century Fox, starred Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie as themselves as they leave behind their cell phones, credit cards, and statuses to move in with a simple family in small-town Arkansas for a month, becoming camp counselors, burger flippers, maids, and dairy farmers, among other working-class jobs. The show was reportedly canceled by Fox after a dispute broke out between Hilton and Richie, but even still, it served as the catalyst that launched them both to international stardom. It might seem like they’ve left The SImple Life behind them in the last twenty years, but a recent Instagram post says that might not be true.
Earlier today, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, and Peacock shared a joint post that was simply titled: “New Era. Same Besties.” There was also a video of Richie and Hilton singing overtop an old, staticy TV, but we have no other details. It’s not clear if this means Richie and Hilton have decided to give their old show a second try, or if they’re reuniting for a brand new project. It’s entirely possible they’ve decided to return to their roots, so to speak, especially since Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie have become household names in the last two decades.
Between the two of them, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie have starred in House of Wax, Kids in America, Project Runway, Repo! The Genetic Opera, and America’s Next Top Model, to name a few. They’ve got seven awards and sixteen nominations, ranging from the Teen Choice Awards to the X Rated Critics’ Organization. By all accounts, it seems Hilton and Richie have patched up the feud that killed The Simple Life back in the day, but they haven’t starred alongside each other in a long time. Are they going back to the beginning here, or are they trying something new? Will this “new era” spell a new rift between them? At the moment, it’s impossible to say.
