Especially on TikTok, there has been a deluge of entitled people trying to claim parking spots in public areas. A California woman was recently recorded trying to stand in one at a parking lot in San Diego, only to be thwarted with a slick maneuver by a passing bystander.

Posted by TikTok user Kessssyyy_, Kessy said she had been on vacation with her family and was returning to San Diego. In a high-traffic public area, Kessy was trying to find a parking spot so she could get to her home. A lady in a car in front of her was struggling to claim one of the last parking spaces on that stretch of street. Why? Because a Karen who thinks she owns the parking space was standing there, using her body to try and save the spot.

Kessy recorded as the driver tried to park in that space but was stopped for several minutes by the woman, who was angrily shouting. She gestures for the driver to back out of the space and park somewhere else.

Eventually, those waiting to park get tired of the entire interaction. A man steps in between the car and the woman. He then motions the driver forward into the spot. Meanwhile, he ignores the lady entirely, despite her initial aggressive claim of the parking space. She tries to stand in the way, but eventually she backs up, and the driver is able to safely park there.

The Internet dubs the do-gooder ‘Parking Lot Jesus’

Because the passing bystander was able to outmaneuver the lady in the parking lot, people were not only intrigued, but he was also given a nickname to match his long hair and goatee. One of the top comment reads, with affection, “The man, the myth, the legend… Parking Lot Jesus.”

“Not all superheroes wear capes,” wrote a TikTok viewer. How often does someone take time out of their day to be so helpful? One commenter claiming to have been the driver even commented, saying, “I am the one that was trying to park 😅 big shout out to this man, thank you for helping me!”

Many were stunned by Parking Lot Jesus’s little trick, never realizing until now this solved a lot of drama. “Textbook maneuver. Everybody needs to share this,” one person said, with another TikToker saying, “Yess is is how u move these wierdos 🤣.”

With an apparent epidemic of people trying to claim public parking spaces, this looks like a life hack. It’s a pretty slick maneuver. You not only get to park—because you were there first—but you completely bypass the problem of someone accusing you of assault.
