The isometric ARPG scene is now more competitive than ever, with Diablo 4 releasing a rather stellar expansion, Vessel of Hatred. Now, genre fans are awaiting Diablo 4‘s fiercest competitor, Path of Exile 2 for what it will bring to the ring. Sadly, we all have to wait longer. Path of Exile 2 Early Access has been delayed by three weeks. It will now be released on December 6, 2024, instead of November 15.

The news and announcement came from Jonathan Rogers himself, Game Director of Path of Exile 2. The developers even posted a video of Rogers himself, apologizing for the delay and explaining why it had to happen.

Path of Exile 2 is actually ready in its Early Access stage and more or less playable. Still, Rogers cites server polish and network stability as one of the main reasons for the three-week delay. The devs did promise that the cosmetics from Path of Exile would transfer over to Path of Exile 2. Apparently, they needed additional time to implement this flawlessly.

“We have to get everything perfect so that nobody loses anything they paid for, and nobody has their account broken,” Rogers added. They don’t want to make too many mistakes by forcing themselves to stick to the original Early Access launch date. After all, Path of Exile 2 is an online-only game. Connectivity issues can often get in the way of a favorable reception.

The upside is that as far as delays go, three weeks for Path of Exile 2 is rather mild. Most games tend to pick anywhere from 2-6 months as their delay timeframes. If you have planned some sick or vacation leaves on November 15, however, you’ll have to push it to December 6th and hope no one bats an eye.
