Path of Exile, for several years now, has enjoyed a rather humble but active player base. I’ve tried it myself and while action RPGs aren’t always my cup of tea, there’s no denying its deep level of quality and the amount of content on offer. In fact, I’d go as far as to say it’s on par with other free-to-play titles such as Warframe for content. In just a week for PC users, that content is only going to increase exponentially. Grinding Gear Games, developers of the game, have announced that Path of Exile: Echoes of the Atlas, launches one week from today on PC. Xbox and PlayStation versions of the update will arrive shortly after on January 20. You can find the official trailer for the update below.
Path of Exile: Echoes of the Atlas brings the new Maven boss fight to test the strongest players’ willpower. Those who slay three map bosses while she’s watching will win themselves a summon to her realm for a serious challenge. She’ll ask you to defeat all three bosses simultaneously, then four, then five, all the way until you defeat 10 at once. After the strongest of you survive the gauntlet, Path of Exile’s Maven will look to challenge you herself. This boss is nothing to underestimate though, with only the absolute strongest managing to survive. Those who do survive can net themselves fresh end-game rewards along with regional passive trees. These change the content and rewards you experience in various regions of the game, freshening things up a little.
Besides the Maven, Path of Exile: Echoes of the Atlas brings the new challenge league known as the Ritual League. This will put you against increasingly difficult enemies within a ritual circle, netting you increasingly good rewards. Joining this is also the return of Harvest and Heist to the core game. That’s not to mention the many other changes, those of which you can experience once jumping into Path of Exile next week.
