Payday 3’s launch did not go as planned, and fans of the franchise are disappointed at the state of the game’s servers. However, Starbreeze Studios is well aware of the issues and is trying its best to save the game before it can even get going. Fans can be fickle, but Payday 3’s presence on Gamepass helps keep them patient for the time being.
How Will Payday 3 Devs Restore Their Fans’ Faith?
Payday 3 has had a tough road trying to follow up on a game that’s been successful for a decade, and the launch has failed to live up to the hype. Starbreeze Studios simply wasn’t ready for the number of fans they had. The player count was enormous, and Payday 3’s servers could not handle that amount of volume. While this issue is already weeks old, it took a while for the developers to come up with a solution.
Starbreeze Studios have honed up to the problems, though, and have assured that fixes are underway. Unfortunately, those fixes involve the game itself being taken offline as of today, and there is another planned offline date on Friday.
For a game that thrives on its online community, taking the game offline 2 days in a week is a less-than-promising development, but it appears that it’s a needed method to fix everything going wrong with the Payday 3’s servers.
Making things even more difficult is the fact that there is no single-player option in Payday 3. The only way to play solo is by opening an invite-only lobby. The problem is that the servers need to be up and running for this option to be available, so for two days this week, Payday 3 is essentially unplayable.
Starbreeze Studios is doing what it can to repair its reputation, but in a gaming year that is packed full of amazing games at every corner, they don’t have a lot of breathing room to get this right. The fixes are frustrating for fans, but hopefully, they pan out in the long run.
