Imagine walking into your home and finding it ransacked, with trash everywhere, and things stolen. Being burglarized is anywhere from a fun experience, especially when you expect better of people. A man is sharing his story after he rented out his Airbnb in Pennsylvania to several guests who not only left behind a mess, but also stole from him. It goes to show that, even when you least expect it, people will sometimes do the unimaginable.
An Airbnb host named Hazir (@kynaj__ on TikTok) showcased in a new video what “a day in my life as an Airbnb host” feels like. He walked into his rental, where he noticed that there was a bad smell coming from within. Although food was left behind in the kitchen, Hazir stated it wasn’t the source.
He followed the assaulting stench upstairs, where he found guests had piled trash in the corner of a room. That’s bad enough, but then the tenants hid it with a comforter. He stated, “Which didn’t make sense, but I had seen worse.”
However, things worsened as Hazir started to clean the rental. He went on to say, “Right here is when I found out that the Nintendo Switch was missing. I looked all around the house and I could not find it, so I went ahead and I texted them to see what happened to it.” As of his last posting, he was still waiting to hear what happened to his Switch. Whether he’ll get it back is anyone’s guess.
According to rules shared by Airbnb, guests aren’t supposed to leave with the place “in a state that requires excessive or deep cleaning.” Additionally, there are reportedly strict measures in place regarding theft. If a host believes a theft occurred, they have the option to file a police report. It’s also reported to Airbnb.
Commenters were shocked by what they heard on Hazir’s video and spoke up. One commenter said, “I COULD NOT be an Airbnb host! If I walked into my house and saw this, I’m afraid of what I would do.”
Another said, “When we do Airbnb we leave it how we came into it. We take all the sheets and stuff off the bed and put them in one spot so that will be the only thing they have to do. People are disgusting.”
The etiquette is to treat it like you’re staying at a hotel, but, unfortunately, not everybody treats that situation with respect, either.
