I always love a good, heartwarming story involving animals. I’d like to think that everyone can agree that animals, whether in the wild, in captivity, or even at home as pets, are sacred and deserve to be protected and treated with respect. One Pennsylvania man definitely agrees with this, after he saved a skunk from the bottom of an empty swimming pool being used for skateboarding. From the looks of things, that skunk would have probably been stuck for a long time if those people hadn’t found it.
The above video shows two people at a skate bowl, which is essentially a ramp dug into the ground to resemble an emptied swimming pool. One of them is filming the other, who is reaching into the empty pool with his skateboard, a leash attached to the other end in order to reach the skunk stuck at the bottom. Unfortunately, these pools tend to be very deep, and those who get inside without a skateboard or another person to help them can get stuck.
Just as the leash reached the skunk, the animal clamped its teeth down onto the leash, gripping on. With the skunk securely fastened, the man was able to slowly lift the animal out of the bowl and to safety. To avoid any aggression from the skunk, the man let go of his skateboard as he waited for it to naturally let go. However, the video ends as the skunk walks out of the frame with the skateboard in tow.
Various commenters filled the replies, commending the man’s actions for saving an animal with an ill-perceived reputation. One person even took note of the skunk’s behavior, having gripped onto the leash almost immediately after it was brought down, saying, “Skunk understood the assignment.” I mean, it isn’t every day you see a skunk hanging out at a skatepark, let alone trying to take a skateboard.
