Pennsylvania Woman Spends $200 on Groceries, Walmart Delivers the Wrong Order and Won’t Refund Her: ‘Food Delivery is a Luxury Service’

How could they do this to her?

A Pennsylvania woman recently used online grocery services with Walmart, just like many of us do every day. However, the wrong delivery was sent to her house and she was shorted on what she spent. She tried to make some phone calls to correct the problem but workers wouldn’t help her. Now, she’s out $200 with the wrong groceries in hand.

Katie (@ktnegs) is a long-time Walmart customer and recently ordered $200 worth of groceries for delivery on her Walmart app. She did this because she’s disabled and can’t shop on her own, so this makes it easier for her. She said her delivery showed up but it was actually someone else’s delivery! It was a “devastating” realization for her because she spent that $200 on diapers, cat food, and special food for her 4-year-old. When she opened her order and saw it was only soda, Gatorade, and items she couldn’t use, she was devastated.

This is UNACCEPTABLE. I’ve spent HOURS on the phone with customer service and the refund department and nobody can do anything!? This is a billion dollar company and you can’t refund $200 OR just replace my order!? I spoke with Maria, Sumatur and Mohammed and none of them could care less. they were rude and did nothing to help me. I’m a disabled single Mother with no support. What am I supposed to do? This is so wrong. #walmart #delivery #missingorder #norefund #unacceptable

Katie immediately called her driver and didn’t get an answer. Then, she called Walmart support. According to Katie, “They’re telling me there’s nothing that they can do. They can’t send me another order and they can try to refund my money, but it’ll take 10 business days.” She said this is unacceptable, because she’s disabled and now has no food for 10 days.

The next day, Katie received a text message from Walmart. They told her that she had to return all the wrong items sent to her or else they couldn’t process her refund. This came after she was told that she could keep the items and she gave them to loved ones who could use the products. Now, she says she won’t be able to get her refund. She called another support person and told them, “I’m being punished for something and I didn’t do anything wrong.” She begged them for results, saying she couldn’t feed her family now. All options exhausted, Katie isn’t sure what she can do now.

Commenters immediately reacted to Katie’s video, with many trying to offer help. One commenter suggested, “You have to call corporate then cause all deliveries are through Spark drivers now, actual Walmart employees don’t pick up anymore.” Another stated, “[Expletive] no. Make a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, your state attorney general, the FTC and the CFPB immediately. Escalate to the top. WE ALL NEED TO START HOLDING THESE COMPANIES ACCOUNTABLE. I promise, you will be remedied one way or another.”

However, some commenters were less than helpful. One commenter stated, “You should never rely this heavily on any delivery service. Stuff happens. Food delivery is a luxury service.” Katie replied, “I’m disabled and can’t physically go myself? I also don’t have anyone to go for me?! Say you’re entitled without saying you’re entitled, geeze.” Another commented back, “Lady, you’re wild. She deserves her money back.” Commenters continue to share their opinions and reactions on Katie’s video, with many assisting her with options to have her money refunded during this difficult time.
