A single mother from Pensacola, Florida, says she has been subjected to harassment and unsafe living conditions after her landlord allegedly moved an 85-year-old man into the backyard of the property she rents. The woman said she pays her bills on time and tries to maintain peace, yet she believes her landlord and the new tenant are taking advantage of her situation and attempting to control her.
In several TikTok videos about the issue, she explained that the man was placed directly behind her house and that her landlord described his presence as “a blessing.” But she said the arrangement made her feel deeply uncomfortable. “The man keeps asking for hugs and they are trying to control me and harass me,” she wrote over one clip. She also claimed that the man had made inappropriate comments, including that “a man has needs,” despite knowing she is a single mother.
She added that the man’s outdoor cat frequently urinates on her front lawn and that he has been piling junk around the property. “They think I’m stupid because I’m kind and they think I have no protection,” she wrote. “This is racist Pensacola, and it’s always a man.”
She Claims She Was Threatened
The woman also shared part of a “warning letter” she said she received from her landlord after she stopped communicating with him over the phone. In the letter, the landlord wrote that future communication should go through him directly and that failure to comply could result in a 30-day notice to vacate the premises.
She said she found the message threatening, explaining that she had refused to speak with him on the phone because she wanted every exchange in writing. “He just threatened to kick me out if I don’t communicate on phone with him and if I don’t call him,” she said in the video, tearfully adding that all she has been doing is caring for her children.
Here’s What Netizens Are Saying About the Pensacola Woman’s Situation
In the comments, many viewers expressed concern and offered to help her. “Pack up and move… this is some creepy ish Sis,” one netizen wrote. A second remarked, “SMH, ppl think they can just do anything to ppl.” A third asked, “How can we help you queen? This is ridiculous.” A fourth commented, “Oh no! I’m a Pensacola realtor, let me know if I can help.”
Some also encouraged her to take legal action against her landlord, with one comment reading, “I don’t even think that’s legal.” Another added, “I would’ve filed a report u have kids that’s unsafe. Im so sorry [sic].” Someone else advised, “Go down to the courthouse and get an escrow account.”
