A woman in Tulsa, Oklahoma, said she went out of her way to defend a homeless man with an injured arm when a driver was allegedly trying to bully him out of a parking space. Her decision to help drew plenty of online praise, with some thanking her for speaking up when she felt someone less fortunate was being mistreated.
The woman shared a video of the incident on TikTok. According to her, the homeless man had been standing with his bicycle in a store parking lot when the driver pulled in and tried to park in the space where he was standing. Although other open spaces appeared nearby, the driver reportedly refused to go elsewhere.
Seeing what was happening, the woman stepped in immediately. She confronted the driver, telling him to make use of the other available spaces and stop bothering the other man.
“He ain’t gotta move for you,” she told the person behind the wheel. She then reassured the homeless man that he did not need to feel intimidated or rush to get himself and his bicycle out of the way.
However, when the driver still did not budge, the homeless man eventually moved his bicycle out of the parking space, allowing the driver to pull all the way in.
With little else she could do, the woman walked away from the scene.
Netizens’ Reactions to Oklahoma Woman Standing Up for Homeless Man
In the comments, many people were singing the woman’s praises. “Thank you for advocating for him! People are so ignorant,” one supporter said. Another told her, “Baby, who raised you? Tell them I said thank you.” Someone else commented, “You just shot to the top of my most favorite people. Standing up for what’s right will never be wrong. I wish you and your family nothing but health and wealth hunny.”
Several others were also unhappy with the driver’s actions. “People can be so disgusting man,” one person wrote. Another remarked, “They [sic] miserable. They better pray they don’t end up in the same situation one day.” A third questioned, “Why can’t people have compassion and why do they want to antagonize someone less fortunate.” A fourth added, “Some people have no shame or common sense.”
However, a few netizens did not side with the woman or the homeless man. One TikToker argued that the driver was entitled to use the spot, writing, “It’s a parking space not for bicycles space.”
While that may be true, others pointed out that the driver could have used plenty of other spaces.
As of this writing, the video continues to gain attention online and has racked up more than 200,000 views and over 50,000 likes on TikTok.
