Persona 5 is coming to North America in 2015; this is according to Atlus’ official website. Atlus is a Japanese video game developer/publisher that publishes the Persona series. They have already confirmed a 2015 release window for Japan and now gamers in North America get to experience the much-anticipated sequel.
Persona 5 was absent from the electronic entertainment expo this year, but publisher Atlus did have a booth. This was odd, considering Persona 5 was not there. However, Atlus was giving out bags with the Persona 5 branding and had the english version of the game’s trailer playing on loop.
Atlus PR manager John Hardin spoke with Polygon about the game. He stated:
“Persona 5 is one of our biggest titles. We have to treat it with delicacy and care. No one likes to be spoiled, and especially not with a title of this magnitude. We just don’t have anything ready.”
The latest game to come out for the main series was Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4. It’s known as Persona 4: Golden for the PlayStation Vita. Before the Vita adaption, the game came out for the PlayStation 2 in 2008. Since then, there has been spin-offs of the series, such as Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Persona 4 was well received, scoring a Metacritic rating of 90.
Persona 5 is coming to PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in 2015, with no exact date just yet. Expect more Persona 5 news at the Tokyo Game Show later this year.
