Tokyo Game Show and the Persona franchise has always had a good partnership. There was the year that Joker was revealed as a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC fighter and the year that the gameplay for Persona 5 Tactica was shown off. For years, it’s been rumored that when Persona 6 finally does get announced, it will be at the Tokyo Game Show. Now, it’s rumored that we’ll get our wish this year.
Popular Persona Twitter account @p0wyful wrote a thread with information concerning P6 and its proposed world premiere date. The Tokyo Game Show will occur between September 26 and September 29.
P6 Would Be The First Persona Main Installment in Eight Years
When reading the thread, the poster discusses the addition of two protagonists, each with a different amount of screentime and multiple customization options. They also write that the story will be set in an art school, where the duality of black and white becomes heavily important, especially considering that it’s reportedly the color theme of the game alongside green.
The scenery of an art school will be important because of the conflict between modern and traditional art. It seems that several themes will be present throughout the game, which isn’t a new concept for the Persona franchise.
What really caught my attention was the reply that mentioned that the game might be “semi-open world.” However, it is unclear what that means. The previous installment, Persona 5, gave players a large-scale area to walk around that I would consider a semi-open world. However, there were loading screens between location changes, so I wonder if the semi-open world comment means the world will be more engaging and realistic. It makes me incredibly excited to see the upcoming Tokyo Game Show just for the possibilty of Persona 6.
