Random things are bound to happen any day of the week. However, one of the most random ones happened not long ago in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and it involved a SEPTA bus in a dangerous situation. A Redditor recently shared a video showing a SEPTA vehicle dragging a red vehicle through the city’s streets. Furthermore, there were a few injured people during the accident. Nothing life-threatening, however. Still, seeing a bus dragging a vehicle at high speeds isn’t something one wants to see or experience one day.
The video comes from Reddit user constanteggs, who shared it on the r/philadelphia subreddit. As you can see, the SEPTA bus comes speeding through a street in Philadelphia while also dragging a vehicle with it.
Initially, many thought the red vehicle was to blame. Many times, we see a lot of drivers getting into the bus lane without respecting the rules. However, that wasn’t the case this time. According to many witnesses and an article by ABC Action News, this happened because the Route 82 operator hit the gas pedal by accident, which might’ve caused it to become stuck.
According to the article by ABC, seven people sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Five were inside the bus, and two were in the red vehicle.
As you can expect, this surprised many Philadelphia citizens, who shared their reactions online:
“I thought the front rack was for bikes…?” – GTTrush via Reddit.
A few even shared some knowledge on the bus matter:
“In commercial vehicles, and passenger cars, but ESPECIALLY in big stuff, the brakes should be able to hold the vehicle and max throttle. Big stuff like this has air brakes which is even more powerful.” – technobrendo via Reddit.
In any case, this was a scary situation and one that fortunately didn’t gravely wound anyone. Yet, people are still curious as to why it happened and are hoping for the authorities to give a proper statement soon.
