One woman learned that, to love a pilot, she had to learn how to fly. That’s why she took a leap and responded to a sweet note that was given to her on a flight she was taking with family from North Carolina back to her hometown. Now, this head-over-heels woman is telling the tale of how she met her beloved boyfriend and how lucky she was for everything to fall together as it did.
Tanya Pidgorodetskiy, an Ohio woman, shared several videos on her TikTok detailing how her romance started as a chance encounter. At the time, Tanya was making a trip home with her family to Cleveland and was at the Charlotte airport when she saw a man in a pilot uniform looking at her. She noticed that he was incredibly tall but she didn’t say anything, boarding her flight.
When Tanya boarded her flight, she noticed that the same pilot (his name is Wesley) was on the same flight. He was flying to another area to pilot a flight there. As Tanya went to her seat with her nephew in her arms, Wesley gave them a wave. Their interactions stopped there for the rest of the flight. However, at touchdown, Wesley walked up to Tanya and handed her a note, surprising her.
Tanya was unsure of how to respond so she handed the note to her mom and sister. The message was: “Hi, I’m sure you get notes like this all the time, but I would love to take you out to dinner and get to know you. If that’s something you’d be up for, let me know.” Wesley later stated that he never made a move like that before and had to get help from flight attendants as he drafted the letter to Tanya.
Apparently, Wesley never left Tanya’s mind. The next day, she texted him and they made plans to meet up for dinner the day after that. After strolling around the city for hours on their first date, she now says, “We’ve been inseparable ever since.”
Tanya posted some of the sweetest videos ever detailing her relationship since then, including one where Wesley is playing golf with her niece and nephew. She said in the caption, “The fact that I almost didn’t take the flight and now the pilot who handed me the note is teaching golf to my niece and nephew. The butterfly effect is too real.” It just goes to show that one seemingly miniscule interaction can create a special bond.
Viewers have responded with an outpouring of love in response to the videos. One viewer even shared her own story of love from above, stating, “Called my wedding off and sat next to my future husband on the flight I took to celebrate calling my wedding off.” Others have added that “everything happens for a reason.”
Recently, Tanya and Wesley returned to the spot where they met for their first date and saw a mural that reads, “The only lie I ever told you is that I liked you when I already knew I loved you.” The couple saw this as a sign, especially since Wesley “always says he knew within five minutes of our first date that I was the one,” according to Tanya. This is a love that was built to last.
