Pitch Perfect 2 and Mad Max: Fury Road are both set to overthrow current box office champ, Avengers: Age of Ultron. Pitch Perfect 2 is the front runner for the top spot as it could bring in a total of $60 million which would be a huge win for Universal Pictures as the original which released three years ago brought in a total of $65 million during its run.

Mad Max: Fury Road is the other new release for the week and is targeting a $50+ opening though will likely take second at the box office with around $52 million. The movie’s biggest competition for the weekend is holdover Avengers: Age of Ultron which has dominated the past two weeks at the box office as it shares the same target audience.

Depending on how the weekend plays out and how Avengers: Age of Ultron holds, the movie should bring in mid $40 million which would bring its grand total to $350 million which will make the movie the top grossing film domestically for the year.

Pitch Perfect 2, Mad Max: Fury Road are the new releases this weekend. Check out Sunday for our box office weekend round-up.
