Despite fans’ issues about pricing, Nintendo’s upcoming handheld seems to be getting positive marks from developers. This time, Persona creator Atlus and other Japanese studios are sharing their early impressions of the Switch 2. Select titles featured in the Japanese magazine Famitsu have confirmed strong performance across the board. That includes buttery-smooth 60 FPS, high-definition visuals, and an easy development process.

In a short developer interview published in the print version of Famitsu (via Ryokutya2089), Atlus discussed the Shin Megami Tensei spinoff RAIDOU Remaster for the Switch 2. According to the team, the system is easy to develop, especially if you’ve worked with the original Switch before.

“Development was relatively easy. If you’ve made games for the Switch, moving to Switch 2 is smooth,” the Atlus team commented, quoting Ryokutya2089. The remaster runs at full HD in both handheld and docked modes, and maintains a stable 60 FPS in both cases. The developers also praised the specs, which enabled them to deliver upgraded visuals and significantly faster loading times.

Other developers, aside from Atlus, chimed in regarding their experiences with the Switch 2 as well. Capcom’s Street Fighter 6 producer Shuhei Matsumoto said the handheld port supports 60 FPS with solid local connection and no lag in sight. Yakuza 0 producer Makoto Suzuki also noted that the handheld mode is ‘surprisingly beautiful,’ with TV mode supporting 4K resolution. His team also aims for 60 FPS across the board for the open-world crime game.

Meanwhile, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S producer Mizuki Hosoyamada from SEGA teased features that advantage Switch 2’s exclusive functionality. For now, the mouse function and other new mechanics are still being kept secret.

These lines up with recent announcements and reports. Ports of demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, and Final Fantasy VII Remake have all been confirmed for the handheld. If Atlus and other developers are confident in Switch 2’s performance, it’s easy to imagine Persona 6 will also launch on Nintendo’s next console.
