PlayStation has revealed the PlayStation Plus monthly essential games for August, and it is a very strong month. Featuring Lies of P, DayZ, and My Hero Oneโs Justice 2. All three titles will be available to subscribers starting August 5, offering a mix of dark fantasy, survival, and anime-inspired fighting.
The lineup highlights the macabre soulslike Lies of P, where players guide Pinocchio through the plague-ridden city of Krat to find Geppetto, battling deadly puppets and using swappable Legion Arms to survive. The game got a DLC expansion recently called Overture, which offers a lot of additional content if you want to dive into the world of Pinocchio once again. The game also got a couple of new additions along with the expansion, including an easier difficulty mode for those who need it and a boss rush mode for people who have finished the game but want to experience its highlights again.
DayZ, the hardcore online survival experience, challenges up to 60 players to navigate vast, post-apocalyptic landscapes like Chernarus and Livonia, where infected and hostile survivors make every encounter life-or-death.
Rounding out the selection is My Hero Oneโs Justice 2, the explosive 3D arena fighter based on the anime, letting players unleash Quirks across large, destructible arenas in head-to-head battles.
As part of the ongoing PlayStation Plus 15th anniversary celebration, members can also claim free themed avatars starting August 5. These include designs inspired by games like Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, Diablo IV, God of War Ragnarok, and Twisted Metal.
Subscribers have until August 4 to add Julyโs lineup to their library, which includes Diablo IV, The King of Fighters XV, and Jusant.
Sony recently announced an upcoming update for the PlayStation 5, which will add a power saver mode to the console that will reduce in-game performance. This lends credence to the heavily rumored portable PlayStation console that plays its games natively.
