Developer Playtonic Games has announced the newest character for their 3D platformer Yooka-Laylee. The character is called Trowzer, a snake that wears, you guessed it, trousers.
Playtonic Games creative lead, Gavin Price, offered some insight into the character.
“Trowzer thinks of himself as the best salesman ever, but with his downbeat appearance and 1980’s mobile phone, life never took off for him,” Price explained. “He’ll take your money and count it (he’s an Adder…) and because he knows best he’ll even demonstrate the moves you just bought for you to replicate… if you can follow his jiggling.”
Trowzer is a support character that assumes the role of helping Yooka and Laylee by selling and demonstrating moves.
Yooka-Laylee is the spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie. It is being created by a group of former Rare Ltd employees who also worked on Donkey Kong Country. This is great news for fans of those series, considering the same play on words and puns they are familiar with, will be apparent in this new adventure. The new character, Trowzer, is a strong indication of this.
Yooka-Laylee can be supported on its Kickstarter. The game’s original goal of $270,000 was met in just 40 minutes, and is currently sitting at over $2 million. Overwhelmingly reaching its crowd funding goals, the crew has decided to release free downloadable content to its backers. Playtonic Games announced they will begin working on the DLC, but only when the initial game is finished and shipped.
Yooka-Laylee is set to release on Windows, Mac, Linux, Playstation 4,
