Magnemite is considered to be one of the strongest Electric-type Pokemon you can get. Although its evolutionary line does have a relatively low base HP stats, that weakness is mitigated by strong Special and Physical Defense instead. It evolves into Magneton at level 30, which you can then evolve again into Magnezone using a Thunder Stone. Either in the early game as Magnemite or post-game as Magneton, you definitely want this classic flying-magnet Pokemon to be a part of your Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl party.
However, while a number of Pokemon are exclusive to either Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl and force you to trade to get them, thankfully, you can find Magnemite in both games. YouTuber Pokemon Archive has made a quick video guide on how to catch a Magnemite in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Watch the video below.
Where to Find Magnemite
To find Magnemite in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, you have to first unlock the Grand Underground feature. In the Grand Underground, you can find exclusive Pokemon roaming about in a variety of Pokemon Hideaway areas. Magnemite only spawns in the Spacious Cave, Icy Cave, Whiteout Cave, and Glacial Cavern areas as a rare encounter at level 16 to 63, scaled depending on your progression in the game, as in how many Gym Badges you’ve got and/or have you beaten the Elite Four or not:
- One Badge: Level 16-20
- Two Badges: Level 25-29
- Three Badges: Level 29-33
- Four Badges: Level 33-37
- Five Badges: Level 36-40
- Six badges: Level 39-43
- Seven badges: Level 42-46
- Eight badges: Level 50-55
- Defeated Elite Four: Level 58-63
Putting on specific Statues in your Secret Base can also boost a specific Pokemon type to show up in the Pokemon Hideaway. Try Pikachu Statue to boost Electric-types and Steelix Statue for Steel-types encounter.
