Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl gives players the chance to cook Poffins for their Pokémon. Poffins are handy for raising friendship levels and Sheen. They can also help you win Super Contests.
If you’ve never made any, we’ll help you figure it out. Plus, it’s helpful to learn how to cook Poffins your Pokémon will love. It’s easy to make one they’ll hate, so be careful with your ingredients.
How to Cook Poffins in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl
Before you can cook Poffins in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, you need a way to store them. So, head over to Hearthome City where you’ll find the Pokémon Fan Club inside a building. The chairman will give you a Poffin Case. It’s a blue building off to the right of the PokéMart, so you can’t miss it. Now that we have our Poffin Case, we can start cooking Poffins.
There are two cooking spots right in Hearthome City. One is in the Poffin House and the other is northeast of Amity Square. Anyone can enter the Poffin House, which is left of the PokéMart. However, you need a cute Pokémon with you to head into the one by Amity Square.
Regardless of where you go, the cooking is the same. When you’re at the cooking pot, you get to choose what berries to use. How many berries you use in one go will determine how many Poffins you make. So, if you use three, you’ll cook three Poffins.
In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, it’s easy to learn how to cook Poffins. After the Berries are selected, simply follow the instructions. The screen will indicate which direction you need to turn your joystick to mix the batch.
Stir too fast, and you’ll spill the batch. Stir too slow, and you’ll burn it. If you make too many mistakes, you’ll create a Foul Poffin. And no one wants to eat this type of Poffin. So, you have to balance it out to make the right kind of Poffin.
Berry and Flavor Guide
Your choice of Berry determines what kind of Poffin you’ll cook. To check on the flavors of the Berries, just click the “Y” button while viewing the berry selection. This will show the Berry Tag that has its description and flavor profile.
The flavor of the Poffin will relate to a specific condition. This comes in handy when participating in the contest:
- Bitter flavor correlates to Cleverness
- Dry flavor correlates to Beauty
- Sour flavor correlates to Toughness
- Spicy flavor correlates to Coolness
- Sweet flavor correlates to Cuteness
If you make a Foul-flavored Poffin, the condition stat can often be randomized.
Pokémon Likes and Dislikes
When feeding the Poffins and you’ve learned how to cook to your Pokémon, they have their own flavor preferences. If you want to know your Pokémon’s favorite, simply look at their summary. It’ll be on the second screen.
Their dislikes aren’t shown though. Our table below details the likes and dislikes based on their nature to help you learn how to cook Poffins with the right flavor profile in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl:
