Chimchar is a Fire-type Pokémon in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl that evolves into Monferno if certain conditions are met. Trainers can catch a Chimchar in several locations within the Grand Underground. Spawning from Levels 16-63, Chimchars will appear in the Volcanic Cave, Typhlo Cavern, and Sandsear Cave. Players can also find Chimchar in its Unevolved form at Level 5 by using the Gift method at Lake Verity. Keep in mind that the National upgrade for the Pokédex is required for capturing this Pokémon. Once players catch Chimchar in Pokémon BDSP, they can evolve it into Monferno, which can develop even further into Infernape.
How to Evolve Chimchar in Pokémon BDSP
Chimchar will evolve in Monferno once it reaches Level 14 in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl. As mentioned above, players will likely find Chimchar at Level 16+, so to have it become Monferno, they only need to level Chimchar once more to Level 17. Trainers who would like to obtain Infernape can level Monferno to Level 36.
The fastest way to level any Pokémon in Pokémon BDSP is by equipping one with a Lucky Egg, which increases the XP gain from battles by ×1.5. Lucky Eggs are quite rare, yet Trainers can easily find one at Acuity Lakefront in the Great Underground. Additionally, Lucky Eggs can be purchased from the Battle Tower for 77 BP. Finally, players can take their Pokémon to power level in the Hideaways, areas where wild Pokémon scale to the level of the Trainers party. As a result, the experience points gained from each battle will always be worthwhile.
