Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl isn’t just about traveling the map and hunting down Pokémon. You can make a Secret Base, for instance. The process doesn’t take a lot of time, but if you want some guidance, check out our brief guide below.

Making a Secret Base in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl Base

Ever wanted a place to stash all your cool stuff in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl? Well, now you can with a Secret Base. It’s one of the many features that returned with this remake, and players are excited to dive on in. Before we get to that though, there are two things you need: an Explorer Kit and a Digger Drill.

An Explorer Kit is known as a Key Item. This Key Item is a necessity to access the Grand Underground. You can get it from the same man that gives you the Digger Drill later on in Eterna City. If you don’t know exactly how to do this, we can help you out there too. Once you can access the Grand Underground and you have the Digger Drill in your possession, it’s time to work on that Secret Base.

Head into the massive Grand Underground to begin your journey. As you explore the labyrinth caves, you can choose any wall to make your Base.

From there, just use the Digger Drill and you’ll make a big hole that will be your Secret Base. In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, a Secret Base isn’t just for show. It’s pretty useful in fact. You can place all those statues you unearth by digging inside the Base. Set them up in whatever position you’d like along the grid. Not only do these look cool, but they can help you in your journey. Whatever type of Pokémon statue you set up, you increase your chances of encountering that type of Pokémon.

The statues vary in terms of shape and size, so that’s something to keep in mind when placing them in your Secret Base. Of course, you can expand the base or make it in a different place. Just remember that you will need another Digger Drill because it’s a one-time-use item.
