The world has been a flush with Pokémon news over the past couple of days and I am here to bring you one last little piece of Pocket Monster related information. There is going to be a new Pokémon movie coming out and it looks like Ash Ketchum meets Tarzan.
Entitled either Pokémon the Movie: CoCo or Pokemon: KoKo (I have seen it reported as both on various websites) the film was initially teased on Japanese television all the way back in November. This new teaser trailer was released on the Japanese children’s morning show, Oha Suta yesterday too much excitement.
This movie will be a continuation of the recent run of films which started with 2017’s Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! and was continued with 2018’s Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us, all of which stand apart in their own continuity, separate from the current anime series.

Details are scarce right now outside of what is seen in the trailer; Ash and Pikachu wandering around in a luscious jungle environment, a mysterious youth swinging around in the trees like a Pokémon, an ancient jungle shrine of some sort, and a cute, helpless, giggling little baby.
Unlike the previous film, which embraced some CG elements, Pokémon: CoCo is set to be primarily 2d animation. Testsuo Yajima, who directed the first film as well as the Mega Evolution specials of the Pokémon: XY anime, will be returning to direct and will be once again collaborating with Atsuhiro Tamioka to write the script.
The film is set to release into Japanese cinemas on January 10th, with no dates currently announced for a worldwide release. For future details on Pokémon: CoCo, Pokémon news in general, and all other nerd news be sure to check back with us here at The Nerd Stash.
