In Pokémon Go, you want your Pokémon companions to perform at their best. A great way to do that is to give them Candy. There are numerous ways to get one in the game, such as in a battle. However, you can explore with your Buddy in Pokémon Go and earn Candy too. It’s the best way to earn some passive Candy even without playing the game.

Earn Candy Exploring with Your Buddy in Pokémon Go

Pokémon Go Exploring Buddy Earn Candy

Exploring is important in Pokémon Go, especially once you bring your Buddy along. With your Buddy, walking a certain distance will net you some Candy.

The first thing you want to do is choose your Buddy. Select the Trainer icon in the bottom-left corner, select Buddy, and choose the Pokémon you want. Once they’re fed with Berries, you’ll take them out to adventure at your side.

Now, all you have to do is start exploring with your Pokémon Buddy. You must walk a specific amount of kilometers to earn Candy. The amount depends on the type of Pokémon explained below:

  • 1 km: Common Pokémon and families.
  • 3 km: Most Pokémon and their families.
  • 5 km: Rare Pokémon and families.
  • 20 km: Mythical and Legendary Pokémon.

The distance is something to keep in mind, so you don’t waste time exploring too little or too much for your specific Pokémon Buddy to earn Candy. You can even cut the distance in half if your Buddy is Excited. Just walking 2 km can help get your Buddy excited. Also, you can open presents they bring you and visit their recommended locations.

Beyond just a Candy, exploring with your Pokémon Go Buddy can help you earn a Candy XL. This can only happen, however, once a Trainer reaches Level 31 at a minimum. Additionally, the higher the level of your Buddy, the higher the chances they have of finding a Candy XL.

Pokémon Go is available on iOS and Android.
