Starting as a simple solo Pokemon hunt in 2016, Pokemon Go has gradually expanded its co-op gameplay options. Raid gyms, friend lists, trading, gift exchange, and GO Battle League are only part of the journey, but something more awaits us soon. Just a few months after the release of the Routes Feature, Niantic has announced a brand new co-op mode in Pokemon Go, also known as Party Play. Co-op battles in raid gyms, unique challenges, and team bonuses to Power of the Charge Attacks are just part bonuses of the new feature, so let’s get started.
Pokemon Go Party Play Explained
As we said, Party Play is a brand new feature in Pokemon Go that provides a unique team gaming experience. Now, you can travel in a team of up to 4 players, see icons of all your team members on the map, fight in raid gyms, and complete joint challenges in exchange for in-game rewards.
To become part of the Party, you must fulfill only two requirements. First, you must be close to the players you want to create a Party with. And secondly, the level of your characters should be 15 or higher. That’s all. But if you have just started your team journey, we will tell you everything you need to know about the new in-game feature.
Party Play Schedule
The Party Play feature was added to Pokemon Go on October 17, 2023, and will likely remain in the game forever. Like Routes Feature or Daily Adventure Incense, Party Play arrived in the gaming world as an event. For some time, you will be able to receive unique bonuses for learning this innovation, but later, Party Play will become a regular feature of Pokemon Go.
How To Host or Join a Party
As we said earlier, to become part of the Party, you must reach level 15. Once you’ve met this requirement, here’s how you can host or join a Party in Pokemon Go:
- Go to the character menu by clicking on the icon in the lower left corner.
- Select the Party tab in the top right corner.
- Click Create or Join Party to create a new one or join an existing party.
- If you create a Party, let other players scan the QR code or share the Party code with them.
- If you want to join to existing Party, scan the QR code or enter the Party code in the appropriate field.

Party Challenges
Having created a new Party, the host can choose one of the proposed challenges. Catching Pokemon, raids, or great throws – the challenge list includes many tasks for every taste. Once a team completes the Party Challenge, they will receive a reward and can choose a new challenge.
Party Power
When fighting in raid gyms as a Party, you will notice a new Party Power button at the bottom of the screen. You can charge it by using Fast Attacks and double the damage of your next Charged Attack when using it.
