With the arrival of winter cold, the Pokemon Go world was covered with snow, Pokestops were decorated with bright lights, and players gained access to a ton of new research. The first Winter Holiday week brought many surprises to players, including event Pokemon styles, but also presented trainers with a hard choice: Stardust or Experience. Once you complete the first part of Winter Wishes Timed Research, you can choose between either the Catching Pokemon Path or the Collecting Stardust Path for the next two weeks in Pokemon Go. Depending on your goals in the game, both options can offer an excellent boost to your account.
Winter Wishes Timed Research Dates
First, it’s worth noting that Winter Wishes Path Timed Research starts in Pokemon Go on December 18 and will last until December 31, 2023. This research applies to both parts of the Winter Holiday event. So the choice that you made at the end of the first stage of Winter Wishes will remain with you until the end of the year.
Therefore, you should think several times about whether you want to raise several levels with the Catching Pokemon Path or earn a lot of dust before the start of the new year 2024 with the Collecting Stardust Path. However, while you’re thinking, you’ll have to complete the introductory stage of Winter Wishes Timed Research.
First Winter Wishes Step

Catch 5 Pokemon | x1 Glacial Lure Module |
Spin 3 PokéStops or Gyms | Holiday Attire Pikachu Encounter |

If you’re new to the game, you can choose the Catching Pokemon Path, as you can get double XP for every Pokemon you catch. This will allow you to reach several levels and enter the new year as a stronger player. But if you don’t need to level up, we’d suggest opting for the Collecting Stardust Path as it can accumulate hundreds of thousands of dust to increase the power of your Poke team.
Catching Pokemon Research Path
As we said, you will receive double XP for catching each Pokemon by choosing this route. This choice will also provide access to unique Research Tasks with valuable rewards.

If you choose the Collecting Stardust Path, you will receive double Stardust for each Pokemon you catch. Moreover, as we have noticed from personal experience, some pocket monsters bring even more Stardust. For example, higher evolutionary forms reward you with 250-600 Stardust per capture. And catching Trubbish brought us more than 1800 Stardust every time.
