Arceus is a Normal-Type Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus and serves as the titular Legendary creature of the game. Players may be wondering if this fabled creature can be caught. Simply put, Arceus can be captured and used as one of the Trainer’s party members. However, the journey to reach this achievement is undoubtedly a challenging one, requiring players to complete all of the game’s content to unlock the mythical Pokémon. Before players entertain the thought of catching Arceus, they need to first complete all eighteen Missions of Pokémon Legends: Arceus‘ main questline.

How to Catch Arceus in Pokémon Legends: Arceus
To catch Arceus in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, players must start the post-game Missions, “A New Day Dawns” and “Seeking the Remaining Plates“ after the ending. Once they collect all the Plates, players will receive the Azure Flute, which allows Trainers to communicate with Arceus. Players will then be tasked with catching all 237 base Pokémon in the Hisui Pokédex.
Keep in mind that players do not need to fully complete the Pokédex entries for all 237 Pokémon. Trainers only need to make sure they’ve caught them all at least once. Additionally, Phione, Manaphy, Shaymin, and Darkrai are not part of the Hisui Dex and are, therefore, not required to catch Arceus. Once the Pokédex is complete, players must head to the Temple of Sinnoh, which can be found on the peak of Mount Coronet in the Coronet Highlands. Here, Trainers must play the Azure Flute to summon Arceus for a final battle.
The boss encounter against Arceus in Pokémon Legends: Arceus functions very similarly to quelling the Frenzied Noble Pokémon in the main story. Players must throw Mysterious Balms at Arceus while avoiding various attacks and occasionally engaging in turn-based combat. Once the final boss has been defeated, Trainers will be able to catch the Arceus, adding the Legendary Pokémon to their party.
