Pokemon Legends: Arceus – How to Evolve Sneasel

A shneaky Pokemon

Sneasel is a Pokemon that debuted in Generation II of the long-running franchise and again appears in the series’ latest entry, Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Despite many aspects of the Pokemon series seeing a few changes and tweaks in the newest game, the game’s core still revolves around catching, battling, and evolving your Pokemon.

While the importance of evolving hasn’t changed, Sneasel has seen a change as players can now find two different variants of the Pokemon, one from the region it debuted in, Johto, and the other in the region of Arceus, Hisui. This new type of Sneasel also evolves into a brand-new Pokemon named Sneasler, while the Johto version becomes a Weavile. This guide will explain how to evolve Sneasel into either Weavile or Sneasler in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

To evolve your Sneasel, no matter which version it is, you are going to need to get yourself an item known as a Razor Claw. There are three ways to get this item; first, you can find one at the Trading Post with an NPC named Simona. You can find her by going to the west of Galaxy Hall in Jubilife Village.

She will sell you the Razor Claw for 1,400 Merit Points. Another way is to find them in a time-distortion area that can be found in the open world. Finally, there is a rare chance that fighting or catching a Sneasel in the wild will reward you with the item, though this will take some luck. Below, the Sneasel on the left is the Johto version, while the one on the right is the new version from Hisui.

Once you get yourself a Razor Claw, you will have to use it at a specific time of day to evolve your Sneasel, with that time being dependent on the variant of Sneasel that you are evolving. If you are evolving the Johto Sneasel into a Weavile, you will need to use the Razor Claw during the nighttime. When the time is right, go to your inventory and use the Razor Claw on Sneasel to get yourself a Weavile. A Hisui Sneasel is the opposite of its Johto counterpart, needing it to be daytime to evolve. Using the Razor Claw during the day on a Hisui Sneasel will give you the brand-new Sneasler Pokemon.
