At the recent Pokemon Presents event, Game Freak revealed the much-hyped sequel to the hit 2022 game, Pokemon Legends: Arceus. The new game is called Pokemon Legends: Z-A and rather than going to Johto or Unova like all the rumors suggested, it’s headed to Kalos for a long-awaited story addition to the Pokemon X & Y main series games.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A Announcement

The Pokemon Legends: Z-A announcement was unfortunately brief and didn’t give too much information for players to know what’s coming. The brief teaser showed off at the end of the Pokemon Presents event detailed an urban redevelopment plan for Lumiose City, the bustling metropolis that is the most populous area within the Pokemon X & Y games.

Aside from that, very little else is known about Pokemon Legends: Z-A at this point. The story is unclear, but seems as though, similar to Pokemon Legends: Arceus, it’s going to be a prequel to its main-series counterparts, following the construction of Lumiose City into the massive size seen in the 3DS titles. This is extremely exciting news for fans of Pokemon X & Y who have been waiting and speculating about a Pokemon Z ever since the initial Gen 6 games came out but never got one until now. Hopefully, the games expand on the mysterious Zygarde lore that was never done much justice in the Gen 6 main series games, while further fleshing out and delivering the open-world adventurous gameplay seen in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
