With the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC well on its way, fans are speculating about what’s to come. Called The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, the DLC explores the bits of Paldea we never got to see. The mystery will be unveiled with the DLC’s release, making it a highly anticipated event among new and old Pokemon fans. For those who have been here at least since the last generation in Galar, there are a few points to be made. How does this DLC stack up against what we had with Sword and Shield? Are there high hopes for this DLC direction, or will it be more of the same?
Fans in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet community are asking that very question, and the answer might be encouraging to hear.
The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC Looks Positive So Far
With the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Hedden Treasure of Area Zero, GameFreak has an opportunity to change the precedent for Pokemon DLC in the future. For new folks to the series, normally GameFreak employs three games with each new generation. However, during generation 9, the one that starred Galar and Pokemon Sword and Shield, this method of sale was abandoned. Now, we get two games and an optional DLC. And the second time around with Gen 10, it might be better.
GameFreak has had some time with both the Switch and this model of game presentation. Fans believe the next wave of DLC will be better than what Galar had to offer. Galar’s DLC left some elements to be desired. The player receives very little in return for completing the Pokedex. With the little player reward for progressing, adding on more replay incentives and completionist drives can help make Paldea’s DLC a better one. Because the DLC this time around involves the Great Crater of Paldea, the DLC can offer so much more than just a battle-fest like last time. New Pokemon, Paradox Forms, and areas are ripe for the creating of this next round of DLC.
