One great strategic Move for PvP or PvE Trainer Battles in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is Dragon Tail, a Dragon-type Move that can be taught to various reptilian Pokémon using the TM 044. Dragon Tail deals a small amount of damage but causes the opponent to switch out their pocket monster. Such a Move can be useful for a variety of situations. For instance, if an NPC Trainer dispatches a pocket monster that counters the player’s, Dragon Tail can be used to forcefully swap the opponent’s combatant. Before players can craft Dragon Tail, they must first find its TM in the open world of Paldea.
Finding and Crafting Dragon Tail TM in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
The Dragon Tail TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet can be found in multiple locations. One easy-to-find spot is the coastal cliffs of Glaseado Mountain, near the river that leads into the North Paldean Sea. Another Dragon Tail TM can be found beneath a dried-up tree in the badlands east of Zapapico.
Another spot to find the TM 044 would be the tall peak south of the Cave Entrance, east of the Dalizapa Passage. Additionally, a fourth location is above the Cave Entrance that leads to the beach far north of Alfornada. Regardless of where Trainers find the Dragon Tail TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, they must gather the same resources to craft it at a TM Machine. According to Game8, the recipe requires the following: Dratini Scales ×3 and Sandile Claw ×3.
First, Sandile Claws are quite easy to find, as the Ground- and Dark-type Sandile only inhabits the sandy region of the Asado Desert in the West Province. Wild Sandiles are also a common spawn, but they can be hard to see since they often submerge themselves in the sand to traverse the desert while avoiding the heat. On the other hand, Dratinis are Dragon-type pocket monsters that cannot be encountered until Trainers reach the later stages of Scarlet and Violet. Wild Dratinis can be found swimming in Casseroya Lake or the smaller body of water north of the North Province (Area Two) Pokécenter. Since Area Two’s lake is much smaller than the one in the Casseroya region, players are recommended to search for Dratini in the North Province. After collecting enough scales, fans can finally craft the Dragon Tail TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available on the Nintendo Switch.
