One essential Held Item that Trainers are encouraged to acquire first during their playthrough in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is the Amulet Coin. Fans who have played the previous games in the series will recognize this coin necklace as a special item that doubles the prize money received from beating a Trainer in a Pokémon Battle. While the rewards for Trainer Battles at the start of the game are less than substantial, the map of Paldea is covered with dozens of NPC Trainers. Therefore, the money received from these quickly adds up as players progress, and doubling this amount with the Amulet Coin will grant a substantial boost for one’s expenses.

Trainer Battle Map Locations for Unlocking the Amulet Coin in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

To unlock the Amulet Coin in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Trainers must complete a challenge given by the Battle League Rep at the East Medali Pokécenter. If players manage to find and defeat five NPC Trainers in Area Three of the West Province, they can speak with this Rep to receive their Amulet Coin Held Item.

There are over a dozen NPC Trainers in West Province (Area Three), so players will not have any trouble finding enough to defeat to unlock Amulet Coin in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. On the other hand, fans might need help locating the most accessible Trainer spots, as each one is not marked on the in-game map. Luckily, Map Genie has provided the community with an Interactive Map of Paldea showing where each Trainer can be found. With this information, players can devise an optimal route for completing the Medali Battle League Rep’s challenge:

  • Step 1: Follow the winding path south of Medali to find and beat Isaac the Scientist.
  • Step 2: Return to Medali and leave the town from the southwest, continuing across the grassy field to encounter Sheila the Musician.
  • Step 3: After defeating Sheila, travel northwestward to the main road to find Coral the Student.
  • Step 4: Next, return to the north entrance of Medali and follow the main trail northward to encounter Elsa the Waitress.
  • Step 5: Go back to Medali’s north entrance again and this time, follow the eastern trail to find and defeat Ander the Waiter.
  • Step 6: Return to the East Medali Pokécenter to receive the Amulet Coin from the League Rep in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available on the Nintendo Switch.
