Like Shuppet, Impidimp is a mischievous pocket monster that feeds off of humans’ negative energy and emotions in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Of course, it does not display these impish tendencies in-game, but its devilish behavior is more than apparent in its appearance. Impidimp is a Dark- and Fairy-type Wily Pokémon that evolves into Morgrem and Grimmsnarl after reaching particular level milestones. If Trainers catch or cause Impidimp to faint, they have a chance of acquiring Impidimp Hair, a TM material used for crafting TM094 Dark Pulse and TM158 Focus Blast.
Catching and Evolving Impidimp in Scarlet & Violet
Lore-wise, the Wily Pokémon lives near people since it often sneaks into their households and steals items. However, in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Impidimp only resides within the Tagtree Thicket, a subregion directly west of East Province (Area Three). Impidimp, including its second evolution form Morgrem, can spawn in every part of the thicket.
When confronting a Wild Impidimp or Morgrem in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Trainers should be wary of its abilities and weaknesses. First, all members of the Impidimp family are equipped with Pickpocket, a skill that enables the Wily Pokémon to steal a Held Item from an opponent that makes direct contact. Therefore, players are encouraged to use combatants with ranged abilities and high Special Attack. As a Dark- and Fairy-type monster, Impidimp and Morgrem are weak to Poison-, Steel-, and Fairy-type Moves. Accordingly, Varoom or its evolution Revavroom would make excellent combatants against the Wily and Devious Pokémon. Once Trainers finally catch Impidimp, they can evolve it into Morgrem by advancing its level to Level 32. Morgrem will become Grimmsnarl after the Devious monster reaches Level 42.
As noted above, Impidimp in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet can drop Impidimp Hair, a resource for crafting the TMs for Dark Pulse and Focus Blast. The Dark Pulse TM can be found in a cave south of Zapapico, a town close to the Tagtree Thicket. One copy of the Focus Blast TM can be encountered atop a pillar within Alfornada. This particular pillar sits on the northern side of town. Farming the Impidimp Hair for these TMs should be easy since Impidimp and Morgrem only spawn within the Tagtree Thicket in Scarlet and Violet. As a result, players do not need to travel extensively in search of this resource.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available on the Nintendo Switch.
