To start making your own custom Sandwich with personal Fillings and Condiments (instead of picking one from the available recipes), interact with the Picnic Table on the opposite side of the Egg Basket and press the X button to open Creative Mode.
According to user Nanikos in the forum thread, there are several things to note. First, regarding the Fillings:
- All Fillings can be obtained from any Sure Cans, Deli Cioso, and the Aquiesta Supermarket in Levincia.
- Herba Mystica only comes from 5-star Raids, post-game content that you unlock after beating the Pokemon League. Here’s how you can farm them fast.
Then, as long as you put a minimum of two Condiments, you will get always get Sparkling and Title Power; the third Power seems to depend on the combination of Condiments you use. Meanwhile, using more than two Herba Mysticas does not change the results; for that reason, always use only two Herbas, or you are just wasting them.
Also, at some point in the game, Saguaro, the Home Economics teacher, will ask for a Sweet Herba Mystica. You might want to wait until you have farmed, or just don’t give it to him, as he will just give you a measly Slowpoke Cup in return.
Obviously, the best way to utilize these Sandwich recipes to catch Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is to wait until there’s an Outbreak and then eat Sparkling Sandwiches. Keep in mind that how long an Outbreak is not based on time but depends on the number of Pokemon defeated, and you can leave one Outbreak for another; there should be no increase or decrease in the number of spawns until the Pokemon disperse. You can also try the famous Masuda Method breeding technique once you have several Pokemon in the same Egg Group.

Nanikos then added that you need to balance the ingredients if you want to increase the spawn rate of specific Pokemon Types. As a test, they used Strawberry and Kiwi for the Sandwich recipe:
Filling | Condiment | Result |
Strawberry | Sweet Herba Mystica x1 | – Title (Fighting – Lvl2) – Catching (Psychic – Lvl2) – Item Drop (Ghost – Lvl1) |
Kiwi | Sweet Herba Mystica x1 | – Title (Poison – Lvl2) – Catching (Dragon – Lvl2) – Item Drop (Fire – Lvl1) |
Based on that test, Nanikos wrote that if you put 2 Kiwis and 1 Strawberry, the Kiwi’s Typings will take priority. And vice-versa, 2 Strawberries and 1 Kiwi, then the Strawberries Typing will come first. But if you can balance them and only use 1 of each, you can mix and match the result; in their example, combining 1 Kiwi and 1 Strawberry gave them Fighting, Ghost, and Poison spawn boost.
However, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have an internal system that dictates which ingredients take priority for the typings you get when mixing them. As a further example:
- 1 Kiwi + 1 Strawberry = Fighting, Ghost, Poison
- 1 Kiwi + 1 Apple = Flying, Steel, Poison
- 1 Strawberry + 1 Apple = Fighting, Ghost, Flying
- 1 Kiwi + 1 Pineapple = Poison, Fire, Ground
That’s pretty much all the details and information about how the best Shiny Sandwich recipe works.
