While battle royales and Among Us have taken hold of many lately, pirate games are sneaking their way into player’s hearts. From the swashbuckling adventures of Sea of Thieves, to the large scale battles of Blackwake, there’s a pirate game for nearly everyone. That doesn’t mean more won’t enter the ring though, including a new title from a beloved franchise. Gaming Minds Studios is ready to unveil their newest entry into the critically acclaimed Port Royale series, known as Port Royale 4. The game is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One starting today. It’ll also be available on Nintendo Switch next year. You can find the seafaring game’s launch trailer below.
What is Port Royale 4?
Port Royale 4 continues the glorious legacy of the series, offering up features, fresh and refined, for new and veteran players. As the owner of a new trading company, it’s up to you to build this trading company up to a thriving and prosperous business. Across 12 million square kilometers, you’ll send your ships throughout the Caribbean to acquire and sell goods. You’ll make detailed trade routes, designed to get your ships to each island as efficiently as possible. Along the way, you’ll upgrade your nation’s settlements, fame, and wealth to soar to stardom. If peaceful trading isn’t your thing, then perhaps taking countries by force is your style. The choice is up to you in Port Royale 4. How will your journey be shaped?
One of the biggest aspects that separates Port Royale 4 from its predecessors is naval battles. Take your ships out onto the high seas to show you’re not a force to be messed with. These battles are turn-based, forcing you to think critically with up to eight ships battling at once. Your tactics are the only thing that’ll save you on the high seas, so you’ll have to form a strategy if you are to succeed. There’s a lot of other changes as well, much you can find through the game’s launch trailer and official page.
Port Royale looks like an interesting take on the pirate life, focusing more on strategy than live-action. If the concept seems intriguing to you, you can find it at your respective platform’s store for around $40. For now, I’d like to hear your thoughts on the latest seafaring game to hit shelves.
