Leave Frogger alone!

The ‘warzone’ in Portland, Oregon, has become a scene akin to Fortnite to some regard, with protestors dressing up in suits to oppose Trump’s fleet of police enforcers. Unfortunately, even with the comical character suits, things are not all fun and games, as police brutality is shown in full force with an officer pepper-spraying the vent of a person in an inflatable frog outfit. The amphibious protestor was trying to help up another officer who’d fallen. Suddenly, an aggressive cop jumps in and recklessly sprays a possibly dangerous dose of toxic chemicals into the suit’s breathing duct.

“This is highly dangerous and absolutely uncalled for,” remarks a Redditor, pointing out how the froggy individual’s hands were up in compliance, meaning there was no reason for the cop to spray them. Considering the fact that the vent is the way the protestor is able to breathe, the police officer could have seriously jeopardized the innocent person’s respiratory tract. “nah that’s attempted [expletive] straight up,” remarks a commenter on Instagram. The way the cop turns the compliant frog-suit person around just to spray their air hole also shows his malicious intent, despite the protestor helping another officer get up.

Of course, many other online users found the concept of wearing costumes to a violent protest rather ridiculous. “You would think a warzone would have less costumes,” says a person on Reddit. A response added that ICE agents are just fascist thugs playing dress-up, too. “Seriously protesters need to start dressing up as ICE and do a live action Where’s Waldo,” jokes another user. “This is the clip right here that will help further define the legacy of Donald Trump and his entire administration. Pepper spraying a guy in a frog suit,” adds a third.

With the political state of the US, it’s not surprising to see police brutality in full force against anti-ICE protestors dressed up in cartoony outfits in Portland. However, that doesn’t make it any less disturbing. Hopefully, the frog person is alright.
