When you hear the names Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, “good PR” isn’t exactly the first thing that comes to mind, quite the opposite, in fact. It’s no secret that the Sussex PR team hasn’t really been on top of things as of late. One great example would be the whole controversy about the Sussexes not signing photo consent forms at Kris Jenner’s birthday party when there were none. Well, someone else is going to have to drop the ball moving forward, as the infamous Meredith Maines of the Sussex PR team has officially quit.
According to The Sun, Chief Communications Officer Meredith Maines of both Archewell and Meghan’s As Ever brand has taken her leave from Team Sussex just short of a year. Maines and an organization called Method Communications were supposed to be “disruptors” and challengers of the status quo for the Sussexes to improve their PR situation, which has been in dire need of recovery. But after seven months, the two will no longer be working with the pair of ex-royals, leaving the Sussexes to look for a new PR consultant to take up the rather dim torch.
Many Have Allegedly Complained About Meghan Markle’s Awful Management

While Maines didn’t leave with anything bad to say about Harry or Meghan, there are plenty of rumors that circulate across the internet, speaking about the horrors of working with the Duchess of Sussex. Things got so bad for some that they allegedly created an unofficial “Sussex Survivors Club.” Rumors are just rumors, but it’s clear that the anti-Sussex club has a strong fanbase. Not to mention, the New York Post has just announced Netflix’s With Love, Meghan as one of the worst shows to come out in 2025. While Netflix’s co-CEO’s opinion might be positive about the influence Harry and Meghan have, plenty of people would beg to differ.
And that’s mostly Meghan’s side of the drama, and while Harry sometimes gets a little sympathy from critics, he still has his own fair share as well. That all being said, Meredith Maines was just one of reportedly eleven PR leads that quit on the Sussexes this past half a decade since Megxit. Truly, it’s not an easy job to cover the messes of the past and present the wayward royals leave behind, but taking off after just seven months feels pretty wild for people.
“Absolutely hysterical. Meghan is just pure PR poison,” exclaims one Reddit commenter. “Serves her right in my opinion – she is responsible for not doing her due diligence before taking the job and realising how toxic MM let alone Harry is,” remarks another. “And in the end, she managed to ‘disrupt’ her own career,” joked a third.
Commentary aside, it will be interesting to see where Harry and Meghan’s next PR team will take them. But if the statistics are anything to go by, the improvements we can predict to see might be doubtful.
