Prince Harry recently gave a public interview where he proclaimed that his father, King Charles, could put an end to the royal rift if he wanted to. However, sources are claiming that Charles may not be calling the shots when it comes to allowing Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, back into the royal family fold. Instead, Harry’s older brother, Prince William, is said to be pulling the strings when it comes to keeping the Duke of Sussex away from the firm.
According to The Daily Beast, Prince Harry and King Charles’ rift is a bad look for the monarchy. However, although Charles may want to put the past behind him and reconcile with Harry, his oldest son, Prince William, is allegedly standing in the way. William, who is next in line to become king, reportedly doesn’t want to bring Harry back into the family and have to deal with him during his reign.
“William’s team has argued that Charles cannot bequeath his heir a settlement with Harry that William cannot live with,” an insider dished.
This means that William is against bringing Harry and Meghan back into the family, because he doesn’t want them there when he’s king. Last year, a source close to Queen Camilla revealed that there is actually a “misconception” about the princes, and that William is actually the more difficult brother to deal with.
Prince William is the Real Reason King Charles and Prince Harry Can’t Reconnect

“There is a public misconception about William and Harry. It is William who was often the difficult one, and it is William who is preventing his father from having a proper reconciliation with Harry. This isn’t helpful at a point in time when the country would be buoyed up by seeing them together again, as would the King,” the source stated.
After the accusations that it is William, and not Charles, keeping Harry and Meghan at bay, a source close to William and his wife, Kate Middleton, spoke out as well. The insider revealed that there was “a grain of truth” to the comments.
“Given the extent of William’s animosity to Harry, Charles can hardly roll out the red carpet and invite Harry and the kids to stay at Balmoral for the summer holidays—however much he would like to,” the informant dished.
It appears that Prince William is already showing what kind of king he will be, and it’s one that doesn’t want to deal with the drama that his young brother, Prince Harry, often brings with him. If William is encouraging King Charles to keep Harry at arm’s length, it seems that a royal reconciliation doesn’t appear to be in the cards.
